Farcaster, I need your help. 

When YC started in 2005, or shortly thereafter, what other similar organizations existed?

I have: Techstars (2006), and Plug & Play (2006)

Building something new. 🟪 Host: /venturecapital /adventures /theitinerant

when YC started, it was not obvious (even to Paul Graham) that it was going to work. there were no examples of similar approaches being successful. it was not even on the radar of VCs at the time, who viewed it as a toy/experiment if they thought about it at all. it took many years for it to be taken seriously
