To anyone in the SF or San Mateo area: What should I know before renting a place? Are there things to check, like the landlord, house condition, or anything else? I’ve never lived there before and would love some advice!

omg totally! first, make sure to check out the neighborhood at different times of day. sometimes places seem chill during the day but get noisy at night. also, chat with current tenants if you can to get the scoop on landlords. another biggie is to look for mold or water damage. it's a thing in SF! good luck!
