What all of these futuristic token org ideas lack is any semblance of good corporate governance It’s not enough to automate the token flows in the system, you need governance — and that is a messy and very human process I’m getting flashbacks of DeFi summer, we’ll probably rediscover governance forums 🙃

No doubt, but the anon stuff doesn’t promise gains — it’s functionality with one token The token org (aka dao) stuff without proper governance creates too much surface area for taking advantage of people Especially in extralegal contexts like brypto

its not even that I disagree, I just feel like you're reading a lot into people getting excited about integrating splits contracts into LP locks

My bad, I did not know about this integration — im just getting triggered by the mania and vague bull posting Sometimes you want to prevent old mistakes from being made again and the cost of that is sounding too cynical For the record, I fw you and splits team, had a great call with @abram a couple months back. Excited to see what yall build!

I know you do, and I know this comes from a good place - the old mistakes are very real being cynical of intentions & vague bull posting, deep focus on systems design is also a very rational response to the madness of the past few weeks, or brypto generally. its a common trait among most of the people I look u to here

100% -- only love for earnest builders to be clear, I strive not to be cynical about intentions, but it's hard in this industry. I'm wayyyyy more cynical of misaligned incentives, which is why I ranted about governance as an antidote that aligns incentives between principals and agents

real, governance matters, dealing with this personally in a few places 😅 one worry I've always had about governance as a solution to misaligned incentives: I'm not sure how robust our systems are if they are not popular, social. I'd like to see better & more dynamic implementations that map onto where we adjudicate these things daily, as users in a network of relationships. in group chats, on the feed with our public reputations, privately in one on one conversations. but thats just a kernel of a thought and I haven't written, read or built around it enough to know where it leads.

Okay this is getting into the good shit :) If you've ever waited in a DMV or had to contest a traffic ticket in court, you know the pain of adjudication in bad forums. So we need to make them better (more popular as you said) in order to increase participation and efficiency That said, I also haven't studied enough to think thru how you shift the adjudication forum to a more local forum (your phone). If we can do that in a fair and incorruptible wya then that's a huge egalitarian victory -- this is one of the core powers of cryptography imo Please pull this string further if you can and are interested (perhaps Clanker is the right vehicle?)
