Both Reddit and X hiveminds are generally negative. The exceptions are subreddits or niche X communities that don’t surface much to the mainstream That said, X users actually wield power and can channel their negativity into action, whereas Redditors are mostly impotent I suspect that’s why X feels more toxic as a whole

how are we measuring that they're "generally negative"? pretty sure the most popular posts of all time on both platforms are wholesome

does insta or fb not have the same dynamics than these two due to its differences as social networks?

both are amazing fodder for distillation. imho, twitter is definitely more competition-coded, whereas reddit is more of a "informatively viral", but I think there's either example in both platforms. I also think X is distinctly more finance-approximate (timing/reach matters for dealflow), whereas reddit has always been casual (e.g. tipping entertaining comments and moving on). I do think there should be more emphasis on social networks gaining potency in the form of aggregate purchasing power.

Fb and insta networks have less breadth because they center around your irl networknnOn X you keep your identity and go globalnnOn Reddit you lose your identity and go global but insight is “Reddit local” is more calm - ie. cozy corners

a lovely analysis of x and reddit, this was quite informative to know and i concur to the fact that x users wield a lot of power which they actually exercise 👌🏼
