The "onchain" narrative is a bit weird to me because it's like flexing about being "onAWS" or "oncloud" A chain is only one part of your tech stack. In fact, having to compose everything onchain is an anti-pattern that emerged because light client support sucks Offchain is more expressive, safe, and cost efficient

I just "onchain" is a hammer looking for a nail at this point I don't tell people that I looked at an "online meme", it's redundant. Crypto media will be the same, it's just another tool in the toolkit for creators to distribute and fund their work

ahh ok i get where you’re going i think agree, currently it’s vernacular for the insiders i believe (which serves a purpose) but once we ‘win’ do agree it’ll just become art, media, memes, etc (w no prefix) there’s a constant tension b/w communicating for internal v external re: the space

Well said. “Onchain” feels like an insider circle jerk, and our job is to get outsiders to join the movement I’ve never heard an outsider say onchain, almost always it’s crypto or blockchain I think crypto is the best term we have but larger entities dislike it because politicians find it unpalatable

has been interesting to watch the subversive intellectual warfare over terminology extend into this sector current mental model i’m playing w is more trojan horsing than articulative dogmatism - since it seems like no matter the decision ppl on both sides don’t agree w it 1/2
