I had a mini rant on /gmfarcaster today about calling crypto an industry I don’t know why I’m so sensitive about it but the term feels off to me lately. Prob bc when it’s used it tries to create a monolith from a very un monolithic thing

Yeah, it doesn't feel right to me either but lacking a better word, I go with it "Movement" is an alternative, but it feels a bit too woo and intangible "Tech paradigm" also is fine, but feels like something a moonboy would say

Sometimes I trigger open source friends by calling crypto a subset of the open source world, which it largely is!
