What if the fc graph topology doesn’t make sense for the app? @zinger has a good take here that the fc graph is for friends not followers - I’m not sure if it makes sense to import it in other social contexts https://warpcast.com/zinger/0x23ca9a39

i held this position in 2022 so i'm familiar with the argument. if the context is significantly different (linkedin vs instagram) then i agree don't use the same graph. i don't think creators vs friends are that different. even if there are creators in the network, i want to consume their content alongside my friends. like i do on instagram. it's pragmatic - these graphs aren't different enough to justify starting users off at zero on your app. entertainment and social life are blended. and clients need to help users navigate that.

That's a good take - it's a useful graph bootstrap mechanism when the total network is small and the union of {creators that are not my friends, friends that are not creators} is also small But if the latter set grows, then adopting the graph wholesale would lead to a lot of noise

yeah that's true, though i bet there are ways to build onboarding around this instead of throwing it out completely. will be an interesting design problem for the first client(s) that get there!
