@drakefjustin's work is incredibly valuable to ethereum's future, especially those of us who care about keeping the protocol decentralized and secure long-term and fighting against the zoo of technical bloat. The beam chain roadmap got criticism for the "2029" date, but what that criticism misses is that the beam chain roadmap is a completely separate and parallel workstream from the work that is happening already to meet users' needs in the short term (basically, scaling blobs, where @dankrad has for years played a leading and invaluable part) In 2025, we need blobs (and L1 cost reductions like EIP-4444). In 2026, we need more blobs. @fradamt @dankrad and many others are heroes for pushing forward the research here. By 2030, we need other things: * Long-term robust economics * Long-term robust staking decentralization * A clean and simple protocol, something worthy of a chain that aspires to be a neutral global base layer. Building /quilibrium Over 300 communities on Quorum, tens of thousands of messages every day, hundreds of people online at any time, P2P, E2EE, and growing constantly. This week: - wrapping up pre-2.0 mints by Jan 28 (needs to finish before 2.1 release) - 2.0.6-p3 prerelease available for folks wanting to test high speed intrinsic implementations of the VDF while we figure out linker issues - Milestone 3 components being grind tested and revised, data proof times down to 100ms worst case, hypergraph lookups are now screaming fast Quorum got a major update as well: - small QoL improvements (example: you can create an account with no pfp now) - sync is now against any peer - biggest: Public Invite Links (please note, this is still a beta, there are early spaces that have small quirks from early creation, so if you generate a public invite link and it's not working for folks, close the editor and generate a new one) Next up: Full milestone 3 release on testnet, Q name service, more improvements for Quorum

Dependency minimalism (writing software that deliberately tries to have as few dependencies as practical) is a really underrated virtue imo. Every single dependency is a risk that "something will go wrong" during someone's installation process. Installing projects with hundreds of dependencies and walking through errors can be incredibly frustrating.
