my unsolicited 2 cents is that farcaster feels and is a tight nit community, rather than a network that's a good thing, but also a bad thing for the network? maybe? every time i open up warpcast, every cast is either referencing some new "iykyk" meta, or about crypto and as someone who isnt as interested in crypto as i used to be, i use fc less, because fc casts are very crypto/meta heavy, and if you dont know the meta, you're out of the loop if i had to ask Dan one question, it would be if he see's this as a positive or a negative, does Dan want casts to very crypto centric or more broad/different topics?

I believe there's an issue of post reach. Either the team manually decides to boost new accounts (so that new users have a Wow effect), or the team favors existing account that are close to their western coast FC circle. Most of my casts don't get more than one or two engagements. But I don't believe I always cast dumb sh*t.. For instance yesterday I share a 2020 experience where I put a parallel between ai vibe coding and no-code vibe coding. And as expected, one engagement only. https://warpcast.com/rphgrc.eth/0x7c2da648

Pretty much post reach is super bad, they fiddled around so much with it that is probably the worst actual reach of any social app. Trending looks like it's mainly on a whitelist basis. Also, all this stuff is private but I am sure if all algorithms involving boosting and algo feeds would have been open most of us would be amazed at what bewildering stuff is in there. By the way, trending was supposed to be axed more than a year ago but it has never been axed.

My feeling too: Casts have reach only if from allowlisted users Don't get me wrong, I got over 50$ I believe I weekly reward.. But 1. I don't know why, because my reach yields 1-2 engagement per cast 2. I prefer having convos around my casts than getting 50$..

I don't really care too much about the rewards but it certainly makes there be less non-financial incentive to care. I've tried making a few posts and asking genuine questions about FC + frames etc but 0 engagement. It's strange to not even be able to get things answered about the project itself because of 0 engagement.

A lot of content is also filtered out, because is deemed to be from bots, it might be, but it also might have some false positives, no other App filters out content by default only if the user opts in, on Warpcast you can't even opt-in into "low value" content it's silenced by default, probably this is one of the biggest mistakes Warpcast does. If Warpcast wants to have any chance to succeed it should respect well-established behaviors on other social platforms, but it does not. I don't know if it's out of incompetence or they are trying to reinvent the wheel "better", either way, I am pretty sure that the deviation from how other established social networks work will not have any positive outcome.

There is a spam list, which grades accounts by spam likelihood but I'm not listed as a spam account. But I agree with you, whatever filtering is in place isn't letting through a lot of content or perhaps there isn't enough good quality content to surface. Difficult to say. It's certainly strange to see messages that are using lottery/casino stuff get in my feed over actual content though.
