✨ Fixed on Warpcast: Import external Farcaster accounts Tap "Sign in with another account" and enter your recovery phrase to import a Farcaster account registered outside Warpcast. We'll prompt you to create a Warpcast app key onchain and guide you through the rest of the setup process.

That is great. One request though what if you don't have a seed and only a private key? Can you add private key support should be easy.

This is supported on @buttrfly through an external wallet. You can try it at buttrfly.app

Hmm. So you say buttrfly.app has support to add a Warpcast signer for an account that has a fid already, using an external wallet? Because that's what's happening in the video a waprcast signer is created not a app signer is a bit different. A warpcast signer is a signer that is used by warpcast on mobile and desktop.

you're right. i'm referring to buttrfly being able to create a signer for buttrfly for that account using an external wallet. only warpcast can create warpcast signers.

In the past there were some apps that created warpcast signers (flink), but they were sunsetted, I am not 100/100 sure only WC can create WC signers. But would be better if any app can create a WC signer for better interoperability.

i dont believe flink created warpcast signers. i have an account created in flink that couldn't sign in to warpcast before today's update. this is actually the reason i built external wallet sign in in buttrfly. and how would another app create warpcast signers? i thought the signer request requires a signature from the app's own wallet, so only warpcast can do that. if there was a way, i would add that to buttrfly.

If an account has a Warpacast signer doesn't mean will necessary work with Warpacast( without Warpacast doing more stuff to work which it seems they do) But I do have an account that was made with flink @yuptester that when was created it also was created with a warpcast signer, and I can login to warpcast desktop with it with some scripts. And yes the signer needs to be signed with the FID custody key that's in the metadata of the key. But a signer can be used by anybody, if you have the PK of any signer you can start submitting messages. So basically you just need some API calls to instruct warpcast that signer X is a warpcast signer. I mean even if they use signers that only have their fid once you have the metadata and the public key you can confirm it yourself, the difficult part is just the web2 the API call to instruct X is the signer.
