my biggest concern with people in tech who spend all day shouting on the internet is that many of them spend very little time talking to the people actually critical to society: doctors, firefighters, police officers, construction workers, mechanics, farmers, chefs, baristas, mailmen, janitors, retail workers, etc.

Almost all of those are poor person jobs. Why would a poor person have anything useful to say. Be so for real

It's a valid point, but I also think there are incredibly smart people working in what some call 'normal jobs'. Many of them have a practical wisdom, creativity and ingenuity that often go unnoticed. Intelligence is not always measured by the title or the sector, but by how people face challenges and add value in their day to day. Sometimes the brightest solutions come from those who are directly connected to the real needs of society
