I just finished Convenience Store Woman. It helped that I've been to Japan to really understand the konbini descriptions and bring it to life, as well as the culture to conform for the "benefit" of society. Really interesting read, kind of a peek into the life of an every day psychopath (who finds herself entangled with a typical incel).

Oo that’s been on my list to read, glad to hear you’ve enjoyed it! Currently reading ‘Butter’ which sounds like it has a similar vibe (journalist investigating food obsessed serial killer) and also by a Japanese author! Enjoying it so far!

Sounds like a thriller, or is it more of a romance? 😅

Yeah >> a peek into the life of an every day psychopath (who finds herself entangled with a typical incel). Could not be framed better than this like hahaha

I will definitely put it on my future book list, my friend. I have just started Tulip by Roman Cary and I love his writing.

It's interesting that your experience in Japan has helped you better understand the culture of kenbi and how one deals with social expectations.
