On 18 Nov 1883, the 'day of two noons', the clocks in the US changed to standard time for benefit of the railroads. What felt like incremental change was actually a threshold change (much larger impact). Highly recommend trying Polars (https://docs.pola.rs) if you haven't. The APIs are very thoughtfully designed. May not be suitable for your use case if you need GPU acceleration though (https://pola.rs/posts/polars-on-gpu).
