it baffles me that macbooks still don't have 5G receivers why do i need to use my phone as a hotspot?

Why not? I donโ€™t want to pay two 5G data plans (phone and MacBook). Auto tethering is perfect when you need it. Also MacBook is 99% of the time used where there is WiFi coverage.

Itโ€™s the other way around. WiFi is present where people usually use electronic devices. Iโ€™ve never had the occasion to use MacBook with 5G. Where do you feel the need?

touche'... ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ In Rome they cannot even have a single antenna for the TV on the building. you can easily see a forest of antennas on the rooftop with all the cables going down the facades to every single apartment. enjoy the remains of the roman empire, but don't expect to find advanced tech there ๐Ÿ˜… taking Rome as an example of ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ is cherry picking at best.
