true story: @quidli initially started as quidli sas (the french version of a joint-stock company); however, after waiting >1 month for our entity registration + bank account creation yet still nothing, we set up quidli inc, a delaware c corp, and opened a US bank account all online in <3 days https://x.com/itsolelehmann/status/1878820386672160801

Are you a French citizen? In Italy an Italian cannot simply open a Delaware inc and be compliant with the law… 🙁 If you are Italian living in Italy , you have to open your company in Italy.

so you're saying you can open a delaware inc as an italian in italy (this much i know is possible) but then yhis would put you at odds with italian law? on my side, i am not a french citizen but am a resident with rights that include starting my own company here (already had 1 french co prior to current company and i recall it took a lot of back & forth to get everything established)

You can open it, but the tax department will know on your door and you have to comply with all the taxes and laws as if your company was Italian. A lot of added bureaucracy…

scheisse, what a pain! not so bad in france (yet), it's been a pretty common practice here for venture backed internet companies for the past decade or so to have a US shell company with a local FR subsidiary
