That's a very bad idea though.

I wouldn't call them US puppets, especially given France history of non-alignment. There's a strong history of allyship between the two, and US being the strongest of the two, it's normal that they lead the coalition. But the history of European construction is also a history of emancipation from this US leadership, both military and economic. I don't think diversifying allegiances in this context is a road to more independence.

But they're already US puppets now. Good that they're at least diversifying, that's a step towards independence
