sobriety is initially amazing because things are so clear and that's a really positive experience, the challenge is later when the difficulties of life arise and one has to actually break the old habits. i don't think it's as dark as one initially perceives, as simple as 'oh, this occasion justifies it' or not

tbh a lot of it is behavioral cues and familiarity. doesn't make it easier to quit though

Ya it’s one of those things where you feel like you’re out of the weeds until an environment cue ropes you back in. For me it’s college friends who I used to party with. That ain’t me anymore

i don't know of them all yet but majority of my buds from racing are alcoholics so that one was a lot easier. everything else was more in my head/alone so those are more concerning/why i'm trying to not i.e. isolate or work alone
