## why doesn’t farcaster have reply culture on twitter, popular accounts (@tszzl) come from responding/reacting to everyone on farcaster, popular accounts come from the founders choosing who would win, then those people choosing who would win roon used to engage so much i thought it was scripted. top accounts here engage so little you think they’re inactive. i certainly didn’t choose to see the home/trending feed for 3 years over following feed, but somehow now following is obviously more popular. farcaster deflects more blame than it accepts

i was by far the most vocal proponent of following > trending feeds and now look what’s more popular😇 do the hard work and get rewarded, run away and get nothing

when i look at my feed here i don't feel like i could / should respond to every single post many are quite niche, group sizes are smaller on twitter things feel a bit more basic / approachable / homogenous

Yep, engagement doesn’t count on farcaster, the people who you engage with(OGs) are the ones that count It’s so dense that you can’t come up on here without one of them saying something about you

There is a reply culture. It was even quite strong when Degen tips were prevalent. It feels like now even if the algo does show replies in feed, replies are always less significant than quoting especially for larger accounts. and larger accounts get most of the distribution. Now that rewards are also in play, it’s a bit of a vicious cycle with little incentive to do anything apart from do what’s best for your own stats.
