how do you deal with doubt and being tied to another startup for your own success

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the number one reason. It's a combination of a few factors 
- the promise of a signed web with open, social experiences baked in
- track record for technical choices & roadmap
- the stacked team at Merkle

if either of these was not in place, I wouldn't be as bullish.
