I experienced heat edema for the first time yesterday during a hike. The temperature was 103°F, and around 4.5 miles into the hike, my fingers swelled up and looked like hotdogs. I was out for about three hours and drank around two liters of water. The swelling went down once I got into the shade and cooled off a bit.

glad you are ok. the heat is brutal. 5am-5:30am runs for me to beat the heat. thankfully, LA will cool off by end of the week.

I’m usually out before the heat hits, but I wanted to push my limits a little yesterday. I thought that since I was walking, I’d be fine, but that heat was gnarly.
