yall realize if you like something on zora and you mint multiple editions you can sell some later and actually profit off having contributed to the token's distribution right?

what do you think will make this click? on zora at least, collecting provides curatorial value not only in a profile but in the feed, where there are now referral fees. if i mint something, more people will see it and presumably collect. people were used to minting one edition, and the behavior pattern stuck. despite massively lower prices, folks aren't necessarily minting more editions. it makes no sense not to mint 2 by default. would've been interesting if zora forced collecting multiples.

Abundance mints only make sense for those with large audiences. Unless you think of Art as “stickers”. Which I think is the pov projected here.

In a digital landscape the less scarce something is, the more valuable it becomes

In some cases. What’s the value of all those large editions on ETH… on sol, on etc etc. Only a few catch the energy to maintain social value. Even fewer financial.

they all rely on an inefficient and non-liquid secondary market

Lack of interest in the edition after the speculation phase more likely. Do you see zora’s move as way to increase interest in editions? Commemorative works when the people desire to look backwards. “I was there then and I bought this token to prove it”. Or “I wish I was there so much that I am willing to pay for a token from someone who grabbed a bunch to sell later”. Any artist that teamed a large collection toon knows how that second statement plays out. Making it cheaper only accelerates the race to zero.

Yeah this is pretty obvious, kind of bad faith to compare them tbh. Automation is cool The analogy of stickers is notable; thinking of digital art through a physical lens just doesn't translate. Art (physical or digital) is memetics. Plenty of others have talked on this subject but it really is the answer
