how do we feel about hustle culture? i just read a tweet (which i cannot find now thankfully) framing your choices as poverty or buying into that toxic culture. hustle culture influencers make me irrationally angry because of how they're either unaware of or ignore their overwhelming survivor's bias.

Hustle “culture” is 🤢 but I very much value hard work, agency and maybe to a bit lesser extent ambition. It doesn’t need to be for everyone at every period in their life and that’s OK. Feels more like dogma than culture though, which is prob why I reject it. But the internet likes dogma more than nuance

dogma is a really good characterization of it, those values are laudable but hustle culture is a type of moral inversion that leads to things like being addicted to stimulants and ppl blaming themselves for burnout when that's a feature and not a bug of the system they're being encouraged to buy into
