how do we feel about hustle culture? i just read a tweet (which i cannot find now thankfully) framing your choices as poverty or buying into that toxic culture. hustle culture influencers make me irrationally angry because of how they're either unaware of or ignore their overwhelming survivor's bias.

I think hustle culture makes some people feel bad and have imposter syndrome. I used to work 12-16 hours a day, and yes I was doing great things but I wasn’t sleeping, eating, or taking care of myself properly. Most people don’t see that

Gal, you will love Cal Newport's podcasts. He's calling a lot of this "hustling" out as just keeping busy for the sake of it without working deeply. I think you can work hard, without hustling. i've met many huge hustlers in crypto who, when it comes to get stuff done, were useless.

I’m in my hippie era so maybe I’m not the best to answer. Hard work and hustle are different in my opinion. Nature has hard work but it doesn’t have hustle. Hard work is part of being. In nature beings are just that,, being, enjoying life and working hard to survive but not hustling (1/2)

Hustle “culture” is 🤢 but I very much value hard work, agency and maybe to a bit lesser extent ambition. It doesn’t need to be for everyone at every period in their life and that’s OK. Feels more like dogma than culture though, which is prob why I reject it. But the internet likes dogma more than nuance

I prefer the Irish Buskers busking on the street https://theculturetrip.com/europe/ireland/articles/meet-the-buskers-of-dublins-famous-grafton-street There’s nothing wrong with Prussian work culture, but putting in long hours just because you then can say “I’m busy” is stupid

i work incredibly hard (one could say "hustle") to earn a great living because, to me, money can provide security and freedom — two values that are of peak importance to me and building a family. i don't view my valuing of money as materialistic, but can understand how others with different values may see it as so.

When I first started in the startup world it was so energizing, however it is not sustainable at all. I find what is most dangerous is how it is romanticized at the expense of a persons overall well being, and therefore, can also reduce their ability to show up for their communities.

Worth remembering that it's basically show business and 90% of hustlebros are spectators

I was thinking about this from another angle just a few days ago, most hustle influencers have tanked, some have been trying to pivot but 🤷‍♂️ https://warpcast.com/antimofm.eth/0xe19a8fdf
