Homestead Acts allowed private citizens to claim land in the west. It encouraged people to explore and own a piece of the new frontier. What could a similar initiative look like that would encourage citizens to take ownership of the internet frontier?

I guess the joke is there’s nothing preventing anyone from claiming a piece of the internet. They don’t have to leave their families, brave the weather, suffer from cholera or dysentery, get attacked by wild animals…

Initiatives that support an economic marker, like a USD, to be pegged to the value of the market it currently supports. This has kinda already started but waiting to receive growing adoption, just like homestead act took years to harvest before passing, get this, during the Civil War. Idk about you but my mind is blown. Thank you for this question i learned some new.

But without all the genocide and relocation right? But seriously, the creator of IPFS, Juan Benet talked about a stupid simple kit to give or sell to people so they could fire up their own neighborhood node. I still really like that idea. There’s a @juanbennett account on FC. I wonder if it’s his.
