Where you are born and who you are born to plays a massive role in the number and types of opportunities you get in life. But where you are born and who you are born to has never mattered less than it does today. The internet is like a free, public university. You can learn almost anything and meet almost anyone.

Totally agree. Of course there are still a lot of problems for many people. I for example have very slow connection and additionally need a VPN to access almost all websites including watching @gmfarcaster on youtube or X which makes my connection even slower πŸ™ƒ

Mostly true. But about 1/3 of the world population has no access to the internet at all.

Autodidact: a term I heard when speaking to someone about teaching myself a whole load of different things, it's so normal for me that I am dumbfounded that some people just stop learning once they finish school, like they had such a bad time they decide that "yep, I'm done growing" and maintain that level unless a crisis alerts them to their flaws or the reaper comes to visit.

I completely agree, with one caveat: some connections and pleasures in life can only be experienced in the real world and nowhere else. Certain things can’t be replicated on the internet, and that’s undeniable.

I don't entirely agree with this... the internet is a free, public university but there is so much misinformation you still need to cultivate trustworthy information sources. You also need time to learn and opportunities to practice what you learn, and that's not always easy when you're literally living paycheck to paycheck. So yes, you're probably right overall, but both things still matter a lot.

Where you’re born and born to plays a huge role in a person’s life It shapes the thinking and ways of the person Yes you can learn a lot on the internet but not everyone is that flexible to adhere or tend towards what the internet teaches Grateful for the internet regardless

I am incredibly deep in thought over this as my family is trying to make the decision to either go back to the States or further exit and currently leaning towards the later.
