Nimman is the most popular town within Chiang Mai (CM) amongst nomads. Advantages - Anything and anywhere is within 10-20 min walking - Literally countless cafes with great atmosphere - Affordable, healthy, delicious food from around the world - A handful of coworking spaces with people from around the world working on all types of things. This week in my coworking space I met friends from Portland, Chicago, Colombia, Israel, Australia, England, Romania, etc. - There's the largest supply of hotels and fully furnished apartments (Called serviced apartments) depending on your length of stay - It's cheaper to stay in a nice serviced apartment per month ~$450 for September compared to most good 3-star hotels that can easily be double - The best advice I received before hand is if you plan to stay in an apartment is to stay in a hotel for a week and visit a few apartments in person. For most places this is the only way since the norm is to pre-pay in cash.

Disadvantages - Potentially busier during popular season (high season) which goes from Oct-Dec. - You'll hear planes flying over from the airport nearby in some parts. I have an apartment 5 min away from the city center and don't hear them at all anymore compared to my 1st hotel in the Nimman center. - You might find more affordable places outside Nimman if you don't want to be near the action or don't mind commuting in

Thank you! ๐คVery helpful. Edge City Lanna is 20 min car ride from there (itโs close to the river, Where the yellow star on the right on your map is.) Do you think itโs worth staying in Nimman & going to the other side quite often? How is it close to the river?
