You may have heard of Pieter Levels who popularized "indie hacking" and digital nomading starting in /chiangmai ~10 years ago. I think Hoodmaps was one of the first apps that took off. 

His recent interview fired me up. It was especially cool listening to it while being in Chiang Mai for the first time last year and working the late nights he described.

I always use @airalocom eSIMs and it usually works really well

But in Singapore it's an absolute disaster

I have 2 different eSIMs from @airalo_sg:
- one global one by Discover,
- one Singapore one by Connect Lah! (lol)

yeap, discovered him through the warpcast chatter, didn't know he was the one started digital nomading. 
Pieters could have used Dent esim (https://www.dent-app.com/) instead of Airalo

I'm sure digital nomading had a strong community. However I feel like he 10x'd it's popularity in the mid 2010s when I first heard the name and about "indie hackers" in the San Francisco bay area.

There's so many of these eSIM companies since it's pretty much a commodity. I tried Airalo in Vietnam 2 months ago because of Pieter's recommendation. 1st time using one and it worked okay as a temporary data plan until I got a local plan for 10% of the price.
