I learned the best way to find the nicest and most affordable apartments with the least amount of work in Bangkok is to commit to living here for at least 3 months so that you can use a rental agent|leasing agent. In /chiangmai you could simply walk up to apartments and ask about their monthly rate. I wonder which other cities in /sea and around the world it makes sense to use a short term leasing agent compared to Airbnbs and searching on foot.

Likely most places tbh, nothing beats walking down a street, meeting owners, seeing the angle of the sun at a specific time of day in the living room etc For our upcoming move we're planning a few weeks of hotel and Airbnb and then doing exactly what you're doing, finding a local agent for a longer term option, in our new location
