Took one of the new R211A subway cars. Did anyone ever actually sit in the seat? Extremely uncomfortable. If I had to ride the subway everyday for more than 10 minutes, I would be sending letters to the MTA to immediately change seat production back to the old model. Car lighting also horrendous, sunglasses. Old | New

Reduced seats to make room near doorways for congestion. New layout feels out of proportion, and strange for long / off peak riders. As mentioned, currently installed seats are extremely uncomfortable anyway. Should scrap them all and made it standing only if they don’t fix the lumbars and seat angle.

I can conceptually buy and understand why they shrunk the seating space to make room for crowding and easier entry and exit. Why they made the seats so uncomfortable…? Old | new doorways

The angle is probably because they don't want people sleeping on them (possibly the lighting also)..

Probably a consideration, but some people commute and ride the train 40+ mins a day 2x. They successfully achieved the goal of making nobody want to ride it. They did say bright light makes people “feel safer”, but lighting feels like you are getting carted into the operating room. Have you been on a new one?
