By adding Coinbase to the S&P 500, the market is saying to all the kicking and screaming no coin indexers, “you are now synthetically long crypto, and you will like it!” (unless you make the strategic and difficult effort to factor weight it out!) If you (“creator/platform”) create and control the LP, you will also generate some transaction fee (“royalty”) on a trade through the LP. Recall that during the NFT marketplace wars, we saw royalties race to zero to attract volume and users, leaving those creator income streams dry, often resulting in more releases of primary works to offset royalty loss. Competing swap pools can try to siphon liquidity away from the primary LP pool created by the creator/platform to a lower fee pool, but smart routing will likely ensure some transaction fee (royalty) is always honored to the creator. Infinite coinage of everything and attention loss will siphon away fees from successful creator tokens, as they did with NFTs volume declines, but the royalty on whatever trades occur in theory *should* be honored in perpetuity.
