"Best money" needs to be clarified a bit. Best for what? If it's as a medium of exchange you probably don't want the currency to appreciate over time, you want it to be stable.

Agree that there is no conflict between having good contacts & having strong economies. But disagree (w quoted OP) on what constitutes "best money." It's not about the monetary policy being rigid and unchangeable. It's about what's the best medium of exchange; for that you need the currency to be stable.

sure, in context of fiat money I mean top reserve currencies, which tend to also be top economies / jurisdictions by commonplace metrics like GDP, desirability of doing business, etc.
