One of my more non-consensus bets right now is $RIVN With ~half the country hating Elon (and generally speaking, the rich half), they might want to boycott his products The only sexy EV manufacturer besides Tesla is Rivian. So despite the headwinds of a Trump admin towards EVs, there's a market here

I know several people who bought non-Tesla EVs specifically because of Elon. Unfortunately one of them chose the Fisker Ocean, whoops.

Oof size: large Exactly why I think Rivian will do well — the market craves an alternative And with the VW backstop, they won’t go bankrupt (my biggest concern thus far)

At this point I'm a little worried about VW going backrupt (as an ID.4 owner). I do like Rivian, it's great on paper and looks great in person. I would consider it as an alternative for our road trip SUV, but the price point and strong position against carplay/androidauto is hard to swallow. I'm so tired of being completely dependent on other companies' whims and software (in)competence. Hope someone makes a more hackable car. Not sure there is anyone trying to do this?

There's been some talk about open sourcing Fisker's software...the hardware on the Ocean is actually pretty good. The software not so much.

Same story with the ID.4, love the hardware, the software is pretty bad. Lots of bugs, no updates. Rivian is supposed to be helping VW with their software as part of the deal but hard to imagine this kind of thing being outsourceable.
