i think what draws me to farcaster is the ~culture rather than the ~content. Not sure if that matters, but it feels distinct from what the merkle team talks about focusing on all the time (e.g. driving more high quality content). Maybe they are one and the same at the end of the day i'm not sure

i wonder if this scales though. said differently, is the end state of social networking social media?

I definitely don’t think so, I just think leaning into media and algos allowed companies to make more money through capturing attention so they did

I’d still consider Facebook a social network, somewhat Snapchat, Telegram and WhatsApp, Path (RIP), things like Goodreads and Letterboxd, maybe even Reddit to a lesser extent

Also a bunch of newer social apps (some of which didn’t make it): Clubhouse, BeReal, Locket, Cappuccino, Cocoon
