I'm biting. Let's go one at time though ๐Ÿ™‚โ€โ†”๏ธ 1. > IPFS provides something for every chain I'm currently not aware or a single node implementation for any blockchain that uses IPFS in any integral way. Do you? I think its more accurate to say that TCP, HTTP and lib2p provide blockchain('s nodes). Cool fact 1: HTTP doesn't use a consensus mechanism. Cool fact 2: Both Bitcoin and Ethereum nodes use HTTP (and not IPFS).

@polymutex.eth this is a lovely discussion. I just *skimmed* ere6860 -- it seems that its a spec for an off-chain URI resolver to *send* data into the EVM. (please correct if im wrong!) To serve Blumen's static content deployment to a "typical web2 user" (on, say, a browser), I think we don't need to interact with EVM. Or: were u envisioning some dApp forward thinking? If so, im with you!

@v1rtl.eth of StorageBeat team developed a website deployment too that sexily combines ENS addressing and storage backend deployment either into an IPFS node (pinning server) or to Swarm (decentralised backend "sea of nodes") https://blumen.stauro.dev ๐ŸŒท It is a CLI. So you dont even have to get up from your chair. StorageBeat.eth was deployed using thins.

I want to make a slight fix to an announcement from previous week(s). Happy accident: We (StorageBeat) team announced the launch of the __experimental_ site StorageBeat.eth but I made the mistake of saying we deployed to IPFS/Swarm. We used Blumen to deploy and pin on IPFS. (Blumen Post coming in 5 mins)

Btw, this is NOT to discourage use of IPFS -- i litereally LOVE IPFS. But IPFS is not a storage protocl. It is .. lets say it: A __content-discovery and routing protocol__ at its heart. Backends may expose an IPFS interface to provide access to their local data. The structure of IPFS relies on altruistic nodes to propagate routing information and sometimes chunks for either: 1. load-balancing processes (CDN-like behavior) 2. cacheing during retrieval (for the off-times that a node attempting to do a request from another node cannot make proper QUIC connection)

Swarm doesnt seem anything like IPFS or Filecoin. 1. I don't understand your analysis at all. IPFS is not just blockchain agnostic, it has nothing to do with blockchains at all. 2. Incentives. Are you claiming that the best way to achieve persistence is to pay (e.g., using fiat cash and backroom business deals) to a *company* to agree to host your CIDs on some specific server? ...Sounds like you are a true pioneer of Decentralised Storage! ๐Ÿ˜… 3. Swarm cant run locally? What does this mean? Every node (a UNIX Process) runs locally on a machine. If in the other case you mean to say some "local-first" philosophy" then I'm just at a loss for words: do you want to store your data in a storage ecosystem or do it locally? You can do both. (that's called "backup")

I hate using googley shit, dropbox, github, and slack, etc for collaboration on private projectcs (eg using private data). I use headscale, gitlab, nextcloud, matrix. Today will test out some self-hosted version of HacMD (wish me luck) Any big self-hosters out there? What do you guys use for groupwarez?
