Gm Farcaster and happy Sunday to all of you. So it was decided to go south of Hawaii, that will cost me a huuuuge delay, and probably the new year eve at sea, not even reaching the port, but my crew, ship and will be safe, and so I wish you to be, stay safe my honourable shipmates 🫡

Gm Aaron, absolutely right, the weather. As I have a container ship here, weather is one of the most important factors to consider, because container ships are susceptible to the motions that other ships don’t, those are synchronous rolling and parametric rolling, which is particularly dangerous for us, as I have billions $ worth of cargo on outer decks, and I don’t want to loose someone’s new MacBook in the ocean, comparing losses, delay fees are waaaaaaay less then cargo loss compensation could be. That’s how it could end up if weather along the voyage is not monitored and taken into account, that’s a mess👇

I have two main software tools: 1. Weather forecast visualisation soft, that simply applies the data received from shore based stations on a chart, where I can lay down my route and assess the conditions for any exact location/direction/speed of my ship. This gives me a forecast for two weeks ahead, but as my marine meteorology professor in academia used to say “everything farther then three days is not a forecast but a prophecy” 2. A tool that is a combination of software and a motion sensor system, that is getting the forecast for every exact moment and location from the first app, and then compares it to an actual motions of ships hull, that helps to assess how actual the forecast is, and eases the decision making on minimisation of a potential impact 🫡
