Let’s talk about how China is destroying the west with its exports of fentanyl and digital fentanyl (TikTok).

cambridge analytica is a distraction and a drop in the ocean compared to Facebook’s algorithmic impact. Tons of evidence on algorithmic media and addiction, it’s a whole subfield of academics and policy now.

probably true! My question I guess is if there’s notable examples/evidence of “CCP manipulating Americans” that would warrant banning it. If the problem is “we aren’t sure, and the algorithm *could*, then the same logic should be applied to banning IG/X/facebook, no?

Yea, look up how Israel/ Hamas is being algorithmically governed on TikTok. The addiction is a separate policy issue that's been going on for a while, harder to answer b/c free market etc. The issue with TikTok is feeding Chinese AI/ intelligence and foreign mind control.

That to me is banning because of improper safety controls, not because of CCP. Similar to FB and Myanmar (FB was banned in the country) because it wasn’t properly preventing misinformation and incitement of violence. Perhaps at this point it’s splitting hairs…
