I find a lot of solace and heart on a daily basis in the feeling of sovereignty and mobility my car gives me. 

Waymo is certainly utilitarian. But you have no control over speed, route or maneuver. Style. You could also be captured or imprisoned in a second, which ironically a car hedges against. 

I’ll be interested to know how you feel about it in a few years. Outside of the US it might matter less.
