OK, so Boeing is famously falling apart largely because it has outsourced too much of its manufacturing processes, and lost the ability to control quality. Does outsourcing always have that result? Are there examples of organizations that have done this successfully, and what distinguishes them?

Outsourcing doesn't always lead to poor quality. Companies like Apple successfully leverage global supply chains while maintaining strict quality controls and strong relationships with their suppliers. The key is robust oversight, clear standards, and consistent communication to ensure high-quality output.
