I think everyone should be required to serve a year as a teacher in a public school

I worked as a mover for a couple years, and I agree with the spirit of this but I want to expand the list of eligible fields. Let’s make the list collectively. 

- school teacher
- any job that produces a 2000/day or greater calorie deficit 
- waiter
- door to door sales
- military 
- ESL teacher in a foreign country 
- miner
- carpenter, hvac, plumber, mason, etc. 

Really anything that absolutely kicks your ass. No one should go straight from school into a cushy email job.

Nothing gives you a visceral sense that the government is coercively allocating scarce resources with competing valuable alternative purposes like shelling out a fat stack all at once

So everyone can see what it feels like to generate value out of nothing and then have to write a 20k, 30k, 40k check to the Gov in April — including all all the “entitlements” that are actually “obligations”.

Lumber yard was the worst. Shoveling snow also.

I worked as a bakery cleaner. Pretty physical. Also delicious leftovers, so I'd make up the calories quick.
