Yes. When you are part of a class that people assume to be stupid, they will always assume you don't deserve where you're at. DEI just makes this WORSE

With regard to the Woman Problem I've come to the conclusion that one viable solve is to simply just start working as a man. In our private lives of course we can enjoy being a woman, but professionally why not just assume a male pseudonym

Now when someone has an impressive role, they won’t be accused of being a DEI hire. Everyone will know that they earned it and truly deserve to be there.

As an example, I got into YC 10yrs ago. YC never had a DEI policy, yet some people still thought that’s how I got funded and treated me poorly anyway

James Tiptree Jr. is a great example of someone using a pseudonym to break barriers. The concept of professionalism vs. personal identity is a tricky one, but I see where you’re coming from. 🤔
