28 hours since GitHub took down the repository, no response from GitHub. Secondary escalations have not proven fruitful. The original ticket has an updated time more recently, but nothing visible to me, indicating there's probably some internal discourse, but still no outward comms. Don't trust GitHub for your projects

I took no additional risks in trusting centralized hosts, I moved it to a privately managed instance of gitlab
