Think about who is driving this conversation. By and large it is not organic user feedback as it is employees The Lens marketing team is manufacturing this perceptual divide in an attempt to win net new users; punching up at the more successful service. I don’t believe it is a reflection of the reality today, but them trying to shape the future

I'm not a lens employee but can point to warpcast (as well as almost every other space in crypto) and see there aren't enough women. It was a funny joke that could apply to nearly anything in crypto. But this conversation is an example of why I don't spend a lot of time here. To me it's an echo chamber of tech and crypto. There needs to be a perpetually online version of touch grass (ie, get out of the spaces you confine yourself to) because taking this as seriously as folks are without admitting there is a severe gender imbalance is basically simping for a vc funded platform which....eh....idk. Touch some digital grass, folks.

Patti -- let's get real -- the whole crypto space is made up of 20-30% women overall. Farcaster has the same gender numbers as the rest of the space. I've met and connected with more women here than any other space in crypto including 200 discords, twitter or telegram. (that's since 2017) I realize these are friends of yours and loyalty etc -- but what I saw go down on Twitter was one women shitting on another for trying to have a real conversation in the name of trying to say that Lens is better for women, proving the point that it probably isn't based on that behavior. Seems like a waste of energy to continue this us vs them narrative when we are the minority on any crypto focused space. Decentralized social is something we all value. Really doesn't matter where that happens but it's counter productive to continue FUD-ing the other platform.

Would it be different if I had made the same joke (because I would have). Is the joke the issue or who it came from because they are lead on a competing platform? Just trying to understand if the joke is failing to land bc it's coming from someone at Lens?

Just responded elsewhere -- the joke wasn't the issue. The joke itself didn't land for me because I was unaware that "Les is for girls" was a whole marketing piece for them but I'm sure it was funny to others. It was dunking on another woman and misconstruing her words just for engagement while she was trying to have a real conversation that I took issue with. (the quote tweet in particular was unnecessary -- got to get that dopamine flowing I guess) And yes, I'm aware because MP said many, many, many, many times that "it was a shitpost" and "oh I didn't realize Farcaster was so fragile" which seems like a lazy way to excuse all the bad behavior that followed.
