Are there any ideologically driven people involved in Solana? My impression is it’s pure mercenary: decentralization and open source are not taken seriously.

yes, I'm pretty ideologically driven at least — accelerating the adoption of decentralized, performant computing is the only thing I care about

decentralization is taken very seriously — open-source on the other hand definitely needs work

hey btw! They guy above runs a Solana RPC company. He makes money if YOU can’t run a node, because you have to buy the data from him.

When talking about decentralization, he makes money the less decentralized solana is. 

Maybe take the comment with a pinch of salt.
