I think it's possible that a more worthwhile direction has been found for development. Creating a standalone Spaces app would definitely face the challenge of how to gain traffic from Warpcast. A more ideal scenario would be similar to Twitter/Buttrfly, where Spaces is just a feature within the client.

Buttrfly spaces is cool because it’s integrated into the app. That’s what’s needed is something right in the app like Twitter spaces. Either that or a standalone so compelling and well-named that it catches on quickly.
