When you download a game, what matters more : 1. Get to play as soon as possible, so like a guest mode 2. Your data being saved properly so you don't lose it in case you delete or lose your device.

The first. If I like it, I'll make sure I save it. Also better from the user story side. First things first. Remind to backup in 30-60 min or on logout.

I like being able to play games as soon as their downloaded, but often take save backups on the cloud for-granted until I get a new OS and realise Steam kept all my saves

2, almost all the time. I have no issue with a bit of 'loading screen'. But that should happen in a reasonable amount of time. The faster ...the better.

I always just assume that game data will not transfer to a new device.
