where do memecoins take us?

interestingly, i think degen’s tipping meta is the exception here—a novel distribution of value that can be applied in ways we haven’t imagined yet.

i'll use this opportunity to admit i've tried to insert myself into the meta with memecoin concepts.

it's backfired because most of them are bad.

and not bc they lack viability, but bc they're completely uninspired.

my heart's just not in it, bros.

if you squint hard enough, i think what we're doing with yoyo.meme (@yoyo-app and /yoyo-) is getting at the same latent desire that memecoins are scratching. 

we want yoyo to be an infinite game, that feels more like collecting *and* trading, where the incentives of creators and collectors and traders are aligned...

think the tipping meta is 🤷‍♂️ too ( not degen specific ). 

Was excited it could disintermediate social. enabling users to reward each others content directly ( vs leverage audience for advertisers ). 

Instead large portion of content is now 0 value farming and the tip token communities rule capriciously

Most memecoins feel like nothing more than lottery scratchers.
