OpenNext exists because no one at CloudFlare or SST seem to understand (or want to acknowledge), that Next.js deployed outside of Vercel is a dynamic Node.js app and not a static site with interactive bits. Naturally, you can't just upload it to an S3 bucket and call it a day. Maybe they should just switch to Astro?

I really don’t understand why Next.js and React are so popular… i find so much more enjoyable and organized to use Vue, especially in combination with Astro

I also prefer Vue and very much like Astro, but there’s few orgs that commit to these things. I guess React has caught early on, and there’s way more resources available for all levels of proficiency

You’re probably right, I guess not even developers can escape the whatsapp effect: who comes first wins even when the product becomes inferior than competitors I feel like with AI pre-made libraries are becoming less and less important as a reason to choose a framework

Network effects gonna network effect. We need more developers in the know to take a stand and show the rest of the industry what the non-React frameworks are capable of!
