i'm trying to build an onchain payment solution for offline merchants tried something new this morning: went for a walk around /lisbon and visited a bunch of cafès for short interviews turns out i didn't find any owner in place, so ended up getting emails or instagram handles to reach out about my market research so i decided to change strategy: i'm back home now after lunch and will start to scrape cafès emails with some tools and send a bunch of cold emails let's see what happens next

Few thoughts: - in German gastro a reason for not wanting electronic payments is extremely often - based on two waiters I learned this from - taxes: without payment record a lot of sales get “canceled” after the customer left as if they never happened. - Waiters are on top motivated to get cash, as they often don’t receive the tip when it comes via card payments plus not wanting to get tips taxed - The fee argument is silly to me. Never had a cafe, but several ecommerce stores. The fee is the price to unlock the audience that is captured by that payment provider. The opportunity cost is 100% for not making the sale, 2.x% is negligible for small volumes. - big differentiator for me would be: I get the money instantly, vs card payments taking sometimes 30 days to arrive
