Thought about this quite a bit. While a lot of the current users came and stayed to “make money”, which gives that value prop positive signals in the short term, most people won’t resonate with it. If “decentralized social” is too crypto-coded of a value prop (I agree it is), gambling is even worse. It makes the whole industry look more like an MLM than a technology shift.

When I try to onboard my non-crypto friends, the complaint is always that there are too many crypto people and not enough people like them. This is true, but its not because the app is built on crypto. It’s because the early userbase was crypto. It’s a temporary state rather than a permanent one.

i remember this making rounds in media when people realized how many of fb users were already dead due to plain statistics

EF should not be responsible for L2 interop. L2s should not join together to create a single interop standard.

Competition is good, and the current environment of competing interop strategies keeps the door open for experimentation. The day we standardize a single way to bridge liquidity is the day we stop improving it.

l2 roadmap is going bad not because chains cannot interop

but because chains don't want to interop

There are thousands of well-funded L2s that *must* find TVL to survive, so they'll start redirecting their focus to interop to steal liquidity from the biggest chains (look at Polygon)

Ponder is turning out to be my most *consistently* used V2 frame and the reasons are the same as what made great V1 frames:

1. It comes to me (in V1 it was through the feed, in V2 its through notifs)
2. It takes less than 15 seconds to use (register for an event, vote on a poll)

Free hackathon idea: A component library that lets you customize individual pixels. Because that's what the people want.

Anyone who says “two devs and cursor could rebuild that big company’s product in a weekend and replace them” has never actually scaled something beyond a few thousand users.
