the “dad” aesthetic is ripe for rebranding, perhaps with this “Huberman husband” archetype. if a reasonable amount of vanity can encourage a generally more health-conscious lifestyle, it ultimately benefits everyone https://english.elpais.com/lifestyle/2025-02-11/the-huberman-husbands-phenomenon-sweeping-the-us-protein-diet-exercise-and-the-far-right.html

i know everything is about “understated luxury” and paying a fat marketing premium now but constantly being fed IG ads for $14/pair socks still feels wrong and i’m not even a particularly frugal person. “pinnacle of American consumerism” as @matthewfox would put it i feel like a dinosaur 🦕

238 years ago 55 bros locked themselves in a room, shut all the windows, yelled at each other a little bit, and came up with some stuff a bunch of people still read from time to time to this day, including this

i hung out at Barnes & Noble a lot when i was young; there wasn’t much else to do at 8, 9pm in the suburbs. for all the brainrot Tiktok brings about, i am happy readers have found a corner there that is managing to keep the bookstore alive and thriving.

whatever these algorithms normally feed me, this is not that. great art sometimes makes you feel invincible and minuscule at the same time. that mere mortals have managed to achieve this and also that you might never be so worthy. i am grateful for this new texture in my respect for cinema. absolutely floored.

Yi Yi (2000) by Edward Yang there is nothing i can say that would do this film justice. every so often something leaves you in awe days after you set it down— Yi Yi will be that. somehow a film ambitious enough to attempt at so awfully much and prevails elegantly.

Before Sunrise (1995) by Richard Linklater the listening booth scene is still one of my favorite scenes in a love movie but how are you expected to take these fools seriously for leaving us living the rest of our days wondering about the cow play

David Sacks reaffirmed in presser that the admin’s commitment to keep USD as global reserve currency, but looking into stablecoins’ role therein. if stablecoins are regulated as banks, they would be subject to permissible investment requirements forcing issuers to warehouse Treasuries, potentially creating new demand for our hot potatoes. thoughts? 🥔
